Back in the states, what?!?

Posted by Jamie Orman on January 3rd, 2010

So basically, this is how it happened.

After volunteering, Chris and I decided nothing would be better than to come back and surprise our families for Christmas and Chris’ birthday. So, without telling anyone, we bought tickets, pretended we were going to be bored on Christmas, and took a 10+ hour trip to Guatemala, where the cheapest plane left.

We were in this amazing country for less than 4 days. Both of us wish we could have explored it longer. It really was beautiful with the green mountains. Everything was lush and pretty.

However, arriving back in the States to surprise everyone was well worth it.

We had trouble at the airport. First we were told that we wouldn’t make our connecting flight. So we would have to stay 24 hours in Fort Lauderdale before the next one to Orlando. Ugh. Then Chris’ bag got checked in security. Our plane, however, made it to Ft. Lauderdale early, so we took a chance and asked about getting an earlier flight. Well, out connecting one was still there. We were told to hurry. So we ran through the airport only to find out it was delayed. Nevertheless, we made it to Orlando and to Chris’ grandmas house before 11.

Most of you know what happens from this point on. Christmas eve we surprised my family and on Chris’ birthday we arrived in Anderson, SC, to surprise his family.

So what’s next for us?

We plan to rent a house somewhere (a house so we can have our dogs) and then find a cheap sailboat to learn sailing. Then when we are confident, we shall go sailing for a few months. Head back to the Caribbean.

So, where should we move to?!?

Oh! And, on another note, the donate button now works. So feel free to donate some $$ for finding a house and keeping this site up! =D
